I tried the Cobra S2 Driver today with a 9.5 degree loft and Cobra Fuji stiff shaft. The S2 driver looks great with it’s black finish and black golf shaft. The head is a classic shape that makes you think more of a Titleist 909 rather than a club golfers Cobra driver. This club was made by the same company so a part of me feels that it is just a Titleist 909 painted black and stamped with Cobra logos, but with that said the S2 did feel good.
The S2 Cobra driver features changeable head technology that allows you to set the driver up in a neutral, closed and open position. This concept is not new as TaylorMade have been making golf drivers for years with changeable weights and heads. Cobra’s s2 gives you three settings that will promote a different ball flight, a flight that will help you hit more fairways. The question I wounder is do golfers wants these choices or does it go over their heads and they just leave the club set up the same as the day they buy it.
The nine points sweet spot design on the face does make the Cobra S2 driver feel good off the face. The miss hits do preform well and the ball comes off the face fast and delivers real distance. The Cobra logo on the top of the head looks good and helps you find the middle of the golf club.
The golf driver market is a mine field and there are many great drivers that could help you with your golf game in 2010, the Cobra S2 driver is one of them and does offer useful playable features that will help you play better golf and keep the ball on the fairway from the tee. The other bonus is that it does not sound like a shot gun when you hit it, Cobra have calmed down the noise of the face so you can hit this golf club with confidence without turning to many heads.
